PAST PRESENT
(TONE POEMS ACROSS TIME)
Mark de Clive-Lowe

A live multimedia performance and sonic meditation on memory, ancestry, and identity...

Past Present is an immersive solo performance by composer/pianist/producer Mark de Clive-Lowe, weaving acoustic piano, live electronic processing, field recordings with archival and ambient visuals into a exploration of heritage, identity, and the spaces between. Presented as both a full-length live performance and an album release, the work meditates on the ancestral echoes that shape our contemporary selves.

🔹 About the Live Performance

In the live performance of Past Present, de Clive-Lowe performs solo on piano and electronics, sculpting sound in real time as memory, environment, and improvisation converge. Archival audio, field recordings from Japan and ambient textures unfold alongside projected visuals, creating a contemplative, atmospheric experience rooted in diasporic identity and cultural hybridity.

The performance blurs the lines between jazz improvisation, ambient composition, and ritual soundscape — inviting audiences to reflect on what we carry, what we forget, and what we become.

Performance length: 55-60 minutes
Instrumentation: Piano, live electronics, samplers, found sound
Visuals: Live-mixed projections by Travis Flournoy (VJ)

🔹 About the Album

Released in 2025 on Impressive Collective/BBE (UK), the Past Present album features studio versions of the performance compositions, combining intimate solo layered analog and modular synths, piano and rhodes with manipulated field recordings. The album is a sonic reflection of the live work - meditative, immersive, and deeply personal.
