“Pharoah’s music is as important, urgent and apt now as it has ever been. As the whole world takes stock of our individual and collective humanity, how we treat each other and how oppresive systems are necessarily being questioned and hopefully dismantled, Pharoah’s music is a guiding light for both our inner voices and external community intentions. For me personally, Pharoah’s contribution has been a great inspiration. For decades, he’s consistently melded messages of peace and love in his music along with a deeper encoding where harmonies, melodies and rhythms and the stark, raw timbre of his horn speak to the depths of our humanity and the aspiration for us to elevate and evolve. This is our musical tribute to a living legend whose message and music needs to be heard as far and wide as possible.” - Mark de Clive-Lowe
Recorded live at LA's Blue Whale jazz club, Mark de Clive-Lowe, joined by a very special guest lineup, pays homage to and celebrates the music of the great living legend Pharoah Sanders over 12 tracks taking us through a 90 minute journey of Pharoah’s work including seminal classic and lesser kown works. One of the defining voices of 20th Century jazz and improvised music, Pharoah Sanders needs little introduction as a carrier of the torch and musical leader of minds and spirits. His Impulse Records catalog alone defines him as one of the most important voices in jazz, exploring the breadth of spiritual jazz and raw improvisation.
